Sultry actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, has been nominated as a member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The letter notifying Omosexy of her membership reads:

“Having demonstrated exceptional accomplishments in the field of theatrical motion pictures, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has been accepted as a member of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.”

The notification was signed by The Academy President Mr. John Bailey, and simply dated “2018.”

The Academy is a professional honorary organisation with the stated goal of advancing the arts and sciences of motion pictures.

The Academy is known around the world for its annual Academy Awards, now officially and popularly known as The Oscars.

The Oscars are a set of 24 awards for artistic and technical merit in the American film industry, given annually by the AMPAS in recognition of excellence in cinematic achievements as assessed by the Academy’s voting membership.

According to various online sources, Academy membership is limited to film artists working in the production of theatrically-released motion pictures.

The Academy has 17 branches, for the crafts ranging from Actors to Writers, and two categories, Members-at-Large and Associates to accommodate individuals who work in motion picture production but do not fit into one of the branches.

The Academy’s membership process is by sponsorship, not application. Candidates must be sponsored by two Academy members from the branch to which the candidate seeks admission.

Additionally, Academy Award nominees are automatically considered for membership and do not require sponsors.

Nominees and sponsored candidates are reviewed by branch committees and recommendations for membership are considered by the Academy’s Board of Governors. The Board decides which individuals will receive invitations.

The Academy is a global organisation, representing the best of an international art form, and has members in countries all over the world.

Members are able to see many new films for free at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater and other facilities within two weeks of their debut, and sometimes before release.

In addition, some of such films are available through iTunes to its members.
