The incident traumatized me for years, RRS commander recounts invasion to cultist’s home
The Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command, Tunji Disu, has recounted his experience during an invasion to the home of a cultist at the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.
Disu said he had led a team of policemen to the home of the cultist at night with the aim of arresting him, but he opened fire on them and escaped.
He said he was the DPO of Ago Iwoye when the incident occurred.
He shared the story via his Twitter handle @TunjiDisu1.
Disu tweeted:
“15 years ago when I was the DPO Ago Iwoye, I led a team to Ijebu Igbo to arrest a cultist at night. We gained access into his house, behold! He was waiting for us with a rifle. I was in front with a Sergeant. The cultist shot at us and hit the Sergeant beside me on the left arm and escaped.
“The room became dark with the smoke from the gun, and I could hear the sound of blood hitting the floor like water. The Sergeant said, ‘Oga They have shot me, Oga I am dying’.
“He was rushed to the hospital, I didn’t go with them, because I was sad, depressed and felt I failed to protect him, more so we were together in front and nothing touched me.”
He added:
“The Sergeant regained full use of his arm after a year and the suspect was arrested at Modakeke. The incident traumatized me for years.”
