A photo of President Muhammadu Buhari bending down to assist, Mrs. Ganiat Fawehinmi, wife of the late human rights activist and lawyer, Chief Abdul-Ganiyu Fawehinmi is currently causing a frenzy on the internet.

While some Nigerians interpreted the rare gesture from the number one citizen as very sweet and loving, some opined that it was politically motivated to buy him votes in the 2019 presidential elections.

Yesterday, June 12, 2018, Buhari presided over the Special National Honours Investiture in celebration of June 12.

Recall that Buhari also offered an unreserved apology on behalf of the Federal Government to the family of Chief MKO Abiola, over the annulment of June 12, 1993 election, presumably won by late Abiola.

Mrs Fawehinmi received the GCON award in recognition of her husband’s contributions to the June 12 struggle.
