THEY WERE SO CONVINCED THEY’VE CAUGHT A YAHOO BOY! SARS officials stop OAP Dotun because he tinted his hair
Popular on-air personality, Dotun, says he was stopped by Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad attached to the Lagos State Command because he tinted his hair.
Dotun said the six fully armed SARS men were convinced that they had caught a yahoo boy.
The OAP who works with Cool Fm said thankfully he was spared when one of the officers recognised him and asked that he should be released.
He narrated the ordeal on his Twitter page,
“SARS kuku catch me finally cos of my hair. My ID card saved me. It was so funny. They were so convinced they’ve caught a yahoo boy. 6 fully armed men but one was so aware. He said “Do2dtun abi” I replied “Yes”.. he said “Dey go. I sabi you” … *breathe in and out*
“I am like when do you become your hair? It was so funny. They blocked my car at Ikota but it made even more sense that they actually can pick you for the littlest things. God save us.”
Meanwhile, the once trending #Endsars campaign has come and gone, but it seems the reported harassment constantly reported by young Nigerians on their social media page has become too frequent for comfort.

You are a Yahoo Boy once you use an iPhone and wear new sneakers. 10 ID cards won’t even save you

Even though this isn’t peculiar to Nigeria alone, it is worrisome that someone is tagged a criminal for dyeing his hair or having tattoos.
Please we should pick a struggle, ‘being dogmatic to our old ways’ or ‘catching up with current trends’. We cannot mix it— Chilaka (@clasifyd) May 23, 2018
We all know that our community isn’t sane.. if our young boys have to avoid dyeing their hair so as to stay safe from the dreaded SARS it’s worth it then. Some people have been shot or arrested without evidence because they look like “a Yahoo boy”

Being broke or young should have nothing to do with your hair. We all should have the right to certain things. We are overly stereotypical in our thinking. Why do you plait your hair? Why do you do your nails? Does it mean you will die too? https://t.co/5Sfjm0HeZ7

Now your ID card plus your popular face to the one that knew you contributed but I’m asking as an upcoming artiste that has no popular face would a P.M.A.N (Performing Music Artiste of Nigeria) ID-Card work for us because I feel the ID doesn’t work for these guys.
