This is how fans are reacting to Jose Mourinho’s interest in managing Arsenal

Published

Former Chelsea and Manchester United Manager, Jose Mourinho, is reportedly interested in managing Arsenal if the position, presently occupied by Unai Emery, became available.

Emery is presently under increasing pressure at the Emirates following a not-too-impressive start to the season as fans are criticising his tactics.

Fans have also questioned Emery for always omitting Mesut Ozil from the team since the beginning of the season.

Following the Gunners dismal 1-0 loss to Sheffield United a week ago and 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace on Sunday, they are now fifth with 16 points from their opening 10 games.

The performance has forced many Arsenal fans to demand Emery’s sack as manager.

Although there are no immediate plans to dismiss the Spaniard, ESPN reports that Mourinho would be open to talking to the club if the position became vacant.

Mourinho, who has been based in London after being sacked by Manchester United almost a year ago, has also been linked with a return to Real Madrid.

He has been working as a pundit but has made no secret of his desire to return to management.

Arsenal fans started expressing mixed feelings on social media when Jose Mourinho was spotted in attendance at the Emirates Stadium last Thursday in Arsenal’s 3-2 win against Vitoria Guimaraes in the Europa League match.

Multiple reports in the media on Thursday about Mourinho’s interest in managing Arsenal have sparked mixed reactions among football fans on social media.

Some fans of the club have taken to Twitter to air their opinion about Mourinho taking over from Emery should the Spaniard be fired over.

While some believe Mourinho would manage Arsenal better, others don’t want Mourinho anywhere close to the Emirates as a staff.

They argued that he was a sore critic of the former manager Arsene Wenger.

Mourinho had multiple face0ffs with Arsene Wenger during his time at Chelsea and Man United. He once described Wenger as a ‘specialist in failure’ when the Frenchman could not win major trophies for the Gunners at the latter end of his stay at the club.
