Published

There was unusual tight security within and around the National Assembly complex on Tuesday as the nation awaits the proclamation of the ninth Assembly and the election of new presiding officers.

A combination of military personnel, policemen, officers of the Directorate of State Service and the National Security and Civil Defence Corps are on ground to provide adequate security.

The main gate to the National Assembly complex was blocked leaving the lawmakers, guests and others, the option of accessing the federal parliament through the SGF and the Villa gates.

The security operatives subjected everybody including lawmakers to serious checks to ensure that people did not access the premises.
