The Special Assistant on Digital/New Media to President Muhammadu Buhari, Tolu Ogulesi, has asked why Bishop Oyedepo spreads “false news and disinformation” about the president from the pulpit.

Ogunlesi said Oyedepo hates the President so much that he goes to any length to amplify any false news about Buhari.

The presidential media aide was reacting to a viral video of Oyedepo reading out a satire from The Nation titled “Buhari’s Double.”

Tolu Ogulusi wrote;

“Olatunji Dare, one of Nigeria’s finest satirists, wrote a piece titled ‘⁦Buhari’s Double’ on Nov 27: http://thenationonlineng.net/matters-miscellaneous-13/ …

“Pastor of one of Nigeria’s LARGEST CHURCHES cites the SATIRE in a sermon (apparently yest) as evidence PMB likely dead.

“I know the Bishop has always detested PMB (it’s a free world, really, the right to dislike anyone is guaranteed constitutionally atink), but I don’t understand why he keeps going this far to peddle/amplify (from the pulpit) a falsehood and disinformation about him. Really puzzling.”

However, the writer also pointed out that the story originated from the “fugitive leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu”.

“Since 2017, so goes the tale reportedly originated by the fugitive leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) Nigeria has been ruled by a Buhari look-alike, Jubril al Sudan, a native of Sudan — or Niger, take your pick. Buhari had died in the UK in 2017, where he was undergoing medical treatment.

“Despite occasional stumbles and apparent loss of memory, the transition had gone so smoothly that the only tell-tale sign of the infernal switch was a scar on Jubril’s left earlobe that was not a part of Buhari’s profile.

“Kanu, or whoever began the tale, and those who have been peddling it, should update their material.” the article reads in part.”

Some Twitter users also faulted Bishop Oyedepo’s over his well-publicized hatred for the president.

Some said “Men of God” should not express such hatred to a fellow man adding that it does not depict what the church stands for.

One Twitter user, identified as Akinola Oladehinde, said Oyedepo erred by reading the satire at the altar.

He further said that Oyedepo has been consumed with hatred for PMB/PYO (Buhari and Oyedepo) since Jonathan lost in 2015.

“Bishop erred by reading this at the altar. He has been consumed with hatred for PMB/PYO since Jonathan lost’15.

“David Junior’s preaching is now power&word-charged than David Senior.

“There’s no PMB in the Bible ,Oyedepo should leave PMB/PYO alone, Oladehinde said.”

Meanwhile, President Buhari has replied the naysayers wishing him dead in a statement on his Twitter page.

The president said that he will be celebrating his 76th birthday soon and will only get stronger.

“One of the questions that came up today in my meeting with Nigerians in Poland was on the issue of whether I‘ve been cloned or not. The ignorant rumours are not surprising — when I was away on medical vacation last year a lot of people hoped I was dead.

“Poor @ProfOsinbajo, even he had to deal with the rumours — Some people reached out to him to consider them to be his Vice President because they assumed I was dead. That embarrassed him a lot; we discussed it when he visited me while I was convalescing.

“I can assure you all that this is the real me. Later this month I will celebrate my 76th birthday. And I’m still going strong!”
