TRAGEDY: Top 5 army officers brutally murdered by Boko Haram (Photos)
In recent times, the deadly Boko Haram group has made Nigerian soldiers pay dearly with their lives, the battle is fierce and still raging, so much has been lost.
A great loss has been dealt to the Nigerian people within the years of the Boko Haram war, the Nigerian army has lost many-a-great soldiers, gallant men who died to protect the citizens.
Below are five great soldiers who fought gallantly and were killed by the Boko Haram fighters in the northeast.
1. MAJOR SAMUEL JEGA KANADY DALAKY
Major Dalaky was killed in April 2013 in Yobe State. He was popularly known as Major Dalaky amongst his friends and colleagues, he hailed from Gombe State.
An old boy of the Nigerian Military School, NMS, Zaria, he was a member of the 50th Regular Course at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna State.
He was survived by two children and his wife. His family spoke out against any amnesty offer to the Boko Haram terrorists.
2. CAPTAIN S. ONI
This brilliant soldier’s life was snuffed out by Boko Haram, just after he became a father to a beautiful baby girl.
He was gunned down by the dreaded sect in Maiduguri, Borno State.
3. Lt Col Abu Ali
He is popularly know as the man who led the Nigerian troops to get back Baga from the hands of the terrorist group, Boko Haram.
He was recently killed in what is said to be an unexpected attack by the Boko Haram fighters, he died along side six other soldiers. His death is one that has shook the nation the most till date.
4. Captain U. A Aliyu
It is said that he lied to his family about his being posted to the war front, just to ensure that their hearts were not troubled.
This gallant soldier was killed by the enemies’ bullets while in the line of battle at Borno state.
5. Wing Commander Chimda Hedima
He was beheaded by Boko Haram after his aircraft crashed.
