No few than two people were crushed to death on Sunday night by a truck along Osubi road, near the slaughter market in Okpe Local Government Area of the Delta State.

WuzupNigeria gathered that the truck driver fled after crushing the deceased – a motorcyclist and his female passenger – to avoid being mobbed by residents of the area.

”The incident occurred on Sunday night, about 9 pm. The motorcyclist and the passenger died at the spot,” a source said.

”The truck driver ran away immediately the accident happened, for fear of been mobbed by the residents of the area”.

A tricycle rider who spoke on condition of anonymity said,

‘The trailer driver was on high speed.

“You know how these trailer drivers are driving, they are driving like they are the only road users.

”He was on high speed and it was already dark. Before he saw the bike, it was too late.

”The people died on the spot, while the driver ran away,” the Keke Napep rider.”

It was learnt that, following the development, motorcyclists are seen bearing leaves on their motorbikes protesting the death of their colleague.

The Okada riders who caused a traffic jam along the PTI/DSC Expressway axis of the East-West Road demanded that the driver of the truck be fished out and the law should take its course.
