Truck crushes two to death, injures one in Ogun accident
A granite-laden truck on Monday crushed two persons to death and injured one person in an accident.
The accident occurred on the Oju-Ore-Idi-Iroko road around winners axis, in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, Babatunde Akinbiyi disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
Akinbiyi said the accident involved three persons; a truck with registration number XA977JBD and a motorcycle with no registration number.
Akinbiyi said an eyewitness account showed that a motorcyclist who was inbound Ojuore, Ota, from Iyana-Iyesi caused the accident.
The TRACE spokesperson added that the motorcyclist who carried two passengers during the incident drove against traffic to avoid a traffic holdup in the area.
Akinbiyi said in the process of manoeuvring in between vehicles, the truck ran over them.
He said,
“The motorcyclist drove against traffic while trying to manoeuvre another motorcycle in front him the truck rammed on them.
The motorcyclist and one of the pillion passengers he was carrying died on the spot because the pillion rider carried two pillion passengers on the motorcycle. The other passenger was rescued to hospital.
“The body of the two dead victims had been deposited at the morgue of Ifo General Hospital, while the driver of the truck and the accident vehicle, as well as the motorcycle, have been taken to the Onipanu Divisional Police Station, Ota.”
