Twitter reacts as corps members start receiving N33,000 allowance
The Federal Government of Nigeria has commenced the N33,000 allowance payment to Corps members.
The payment which was made through the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) began today, Friday 31st January 2020, and a lot of corps members have said they have received the new allowance structure.
Recall that in April 2019, President Muhammadu Buhari had signed into law an increase in the new minimum wage and NYSC.
He had also approved the monthly allowance of Corps members to N33,000.
The approval was affirmed by the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, at the NYSC Secretariat in Bauchi.
It was further confirmed by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare, who gave no further details on the matter.
Meanwhile, joyous corps members who received the new allowance confirmed the payment via tweets and text messages.
