Worried by the continuous incarceration of their favourite artiste, Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley, some fans sympathetic to his plight on Saturday stormed the Lagos office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to stage a protest calling for his release.

WuzupNaija reports that the artiste was arrested a week ago by EFCC over his alleged involvement in cybercrime.

He was arrested alongside four others, including upcoming singer, Zlatan Ibile who had since been released.

During the week, the EFCC filed 11 fraud charges against the singer which border on credit card fraud. He risks seven years in jail if found guilty.

Some of his fans, however, took to the entrance of the EFCC office in Ikoyi area of Lagos on Saturday morning to protest his detention. The videos of their protest were shared on social media.

In the footage, the protesters were seen in two minibuses as they head for the EFCC office chanting ‘free Naira Marley’.

They also carried placards with different inscriptions demanding his release. Some of their placards had inscriptions like “EFCC Please”, “We miss you Naira Marley”

Since the videos of their protest emerged on social media, some Nigerians worried by the protest have taken to Twitter to react and mock the protesters who they described as lazy Nigerian youths.
