Twitter reacts to Philippe Coutinho’s ‘move’ to Arsenal

Twitter was set abuzz on Tuesday afternoon following speculations that Barcelona player Philippe Coutinho was set to join Arsenal on a season-long loan.

The report emanated from L’Equipe journalist Bilel Ghazi.

With about 48 hours to the close of the transfer window on Thursday, The reports of Coutinho joining subsequently came as a real shock, especially following the £72m signing of Nicolas Pepe last week.

Coutinho has endured a torrid time at Camp Nou since securing his dream move from Liverpool.

The £142m club-record transfer has been nothing short of failure and Barcelona are actively looking to drop the Brazilian as they prepare for the new season.

Starsport reported that the Gunners have not shown an interest in the former Liverpool player.

There is no truth behind the link to Unai Emery’s side, which is already awash with attacking talent.

Arsenal fans, who have been calling for further defensive reinforcements ahead of Thursday’s 5pm deadline, have taken to Twitter to react to the speculations.
