Twitter slams lady who says she ate and refused to pay because restaurant was playing R Kelly’s song
An American lady who claimed she refused to pay for her meal at a restaurant in Atlanta, United States because the outlet ‘forced’ her to listen to R Kelly’s song is presently receiving backlashes on Twitter.
The lady identified as Kenyette Tisha Barnes said she decided not to pay after eating because the establishment was repeatedly playing the son of a man standing trial for sexual assault and she decided not to pay for the food because the restaurant ‘disrespected’ her.
R Kelly is facing trial for sex-related charges alleging he sexually assaulted several underage girls.
The 52-year-old R&B singer was jailed in New York last month after he was charged in Brooklyn and Chicago with numerous sexual misconduct felonies.
In a series of tweets via her handle @LegisEmpress, Barnes wrote:
“Tonight I was forced to listen to R. Kelly, on repeat at @Applebees, in Atlanta. I asked to not be forced to listen to a sexual predator. I refused to pay. THE MANG. CALLED THE POLICE AND THREATENED TO HAVE ME ARRESTED. The BW staff was dancing. We have a SERIOUS problem here!
“That we are more comfortable marginalizing the sexual violence against black girls is reprehensible. No wonder 60% of black girls are sexually abused. Enablers and predators.
“And despite the horrific treatment of the manager, and other staff, my server was a sweetheart, and I tipped her >18.5%. I am a proponent a Fair Labor, yet, not going to pay an establishment who disrespected me.”
Barnes had taken to Twitter probably in an egoistic toga to celebrate her feat hoping for applause and validation from social media user, all she is getting in return is a huge L.
The backlashes are coming pretty too swift as Twitter users didn’t spare her for refusing to pay for her meal and coming to social media to brag about it.
Some users slammed her and called her a crook for trying to use R Kelly as a justification for not paying for food, saying she could have walked out of the restaurant before eating the food when she heard the song.
Others also described her action as theft.
Some Nigerian social media users who reacted to the tweet told her she was lucky she didn’t do that in Nigeria where she would have been stripped and beaten before being forced to pay for the food she ate.

A Nigerian tweeted:
??? she would wonder if she stole a national treasure after they’re done with her. Ignorant attention seeking moron. Maybe she did it just to trend on twitter, no wonder she rushed here to post this garbage

See some of the reactions:
You were not forced to listen to R Kelly unless you work at Applebee’s. You are a customer. Your most powerful form of resistance is do not patronize that establishment. Just walk out.
Sounds like you chose to stay and make a scene.

I believe you just did not want to pay for your meal. Your using R Kelly name as a free ticket to freebies.

I GUESS UNTIL HE IS PROVEN GUILTY THEN IT IS TRULY WRONG TO CALL HIM A PEDOPHILLE..THE NAME CALLING NEEDS TO SERIOUSLY STOP ITS NOT RIGHT AND UNJUST .. THE LAW STATES INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY

Kenyette then went to a Nissan dealership to buy a car and insisted they give her the car for free, because R. Kelly was played on the test drive and in the service department.

Some black peoples are more rasist that some white peoples .
I never asked employes in restaurant to not play Elvis music.— Marta (@Orzeszek86) August 27, 2019
Why not just simply pay for your meal as you should then leave and refuse to return. There’s no law that dictates what any establish or person for that matter has to play. Why do people have to be monsters or have problems for not conforming to your musical interest or desire?
— King OVO (@ThaRealist92) August 26, 2019
Yes we do have a problem. You sat there and ate their (nasty) food and refused to pay for said (nasty) food. You could have easily walked out THEN came to Twitter and put Applebees, their poor choice of dining room ambiance and (nasty) food (that you ate) on blast.

WITH AL DUE RESECT PEOPLE HAVE A CHOICE TO PLAY WHAT THEY WANT WHEN THEY WANT IN THEIR ESTABLISHMENT ..IF YOU DIDNT WANT TO HEAR IT THEN WHY GO INTO THE ESTABLISHMENT .. BUY REFUSING NOT TO PAY FOR SERVICES RENDERED THEY COULD HAVE HAD YOU ARRESTED..IS IT WORTH IT ???
— Deethediva (@deethediva) August 26, 2019
Why didn’t you step in the name of love on out of there. You do not have the right to tell people what to listen to. Now you don’t have to listen to him but others can. You and your mutants have the “serious problem”.

Lmao imagine eating and listening to R.Kelly and complaing after you done though
— CanHeStopFredVanFleet (@2004KobeAim) August 27, 2019
With all due respect, if they were playing it and refused to change it BEFORE you ordered, then you should have left. But once you ordered and received your food, you should have paid and taken it to go. Then left a note with management or corporate saying you were NOT RETURNING
