There is nothing worth admiring about his action, Twitter user reacts to Lance Corporal Martins’ arrest
A twitter user has slammed the soldier identified as Lance Corporal Martins after he condemned Buratai, Service Chiefs over the incessant killings of citizens of Boko Haram.
Recall that the soldier via a video had expressed his anger at the security chiefs especially Buratai, and Chief of Defence Staff, General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin, for not being committed to ending the incessant killings of Nigerians by terrorists and armed bandits.
However, the twitter user identified as Kevin Odanz found his outburst rather ‘appalling’ and ‘unprofessional.’
In his words;
The first instinct of most of us will be to defend these actions as that of an “underdog” speaking truth to “power” but this is unprofessional in every sense of the word. It is even worse that this is coming from someone within the military. It is beyond appalling
What exactly is the point of the video? He just goes on and on talking about his disappointment at the COAS, CDS etc without providing any substance. At least nothing tangible enough for us to AT LEAST understand his “disappointment.” Just ramblings.We should be careful how we empower trends like this, where people ride on public sentiments to sabotage sacred institutions. People leak confidential memos, leak videos with sensitive info to the public.All sort of unprofessional acts.Because they know they have public sympathy
I am all for strict disciplinary measures for actions like this that is mostly fuelled by people who want to attain hero status in the eyes of the public. There is nothing worth admiring about this action. If every institution must fall to rot, the military should be spared.
