Nigerians on social media can’t just keep calm as they anxiously anticipate the commencement of the continental football competition, the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019.

As they prepare for the kick-off of the tournament in Egypt on Friday, Nigerians have taken to social media to list the top 11 players they would prefer to represent Nigeria United in different areas of life and some of the names appearing on the lists are quite hilarious.

While some listed their top 11 players in governance, public service, advocacy, others listed in football, entertainment and so on.

A Nigerian OAP, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, had taken to Twitter to ask Nigerians to name their top team for the Nigeria United.

She tweeted:

“If football were a game of life and “Nigeria United” is to represent us, who will make the eleven?”

A social media user listed Senator Dino Melaye as the head of the supporters club because the lawmaker is “steadily releasing music to cheer us up.”

Another Twitter user said with Davido and Wizkid as top strikers, the Nigeria United team will remain undefeated.

A Twitter user also listed the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) as his preferred choice as striker.

He tweeted:

“Every team needs prolific strikers to score goals… and no Nigerian body strikes like ASUU. Keep ASUU in the forefront & Nigeria United would be undefeated.”

Nigeria United is presently trending at number two on Twitter in Nigeria.
