Twitter users troll Mikel Obi for posting fake quote on his Instagram page
Former Super Eagles and Chelsea midfielder, John Obi Mikel, is being trolled on social media for posting a fake quote about him on Instagram.
The fake quote credited to Portuguese and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ player, Ruben Neves read:
“At Porto all midfielders were given DVDs of Mikel to take home and study every day.
“We used to call him the ‘professor of football.”
Mikel, who was tricked into believing Neves actually made the comment about him, posted the graphic on his verified IG page @mikel_john_obi on Friday morning and captioned:
“I am honoured.”
Despite the series of reactions the post has generated on social media, Mikel is yet to pull it down from his page as at the time of filing this report.
Some fans have taken to the comment section of the post and other social media platform to troll Mikel over the post.
A fan wrote on the post:
“Loool editing ?? it’s Messi words praising Paul scholes. Please delete it.”
Another fan wrote:
“John obi Mikel posted this on his Instagram… with the caption ‘I am honoured’ Does someone want to tell him?”

Which Mikel? Arteta or Obi?
If na Arteta, he couldn’t break into Spanish national team and if it’s Obi, that one na sleeping midfielder with boring YouTube videos… You can only talk about him in his U-20 days… pic.twitter.com/bXht77rnUY— Eze Gburu Gburu 1™© (@Prof_aboki) September 6, 2019

Can’t believe Mikel actually fell for that fake quote about him & posted it on Instagram. The icing on the cake would be Ruben Neves commenting on the post & saying it’s bs loool
