Two men were on Friday arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court in Kano for having anal intercourse with a 10-year-old boy.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the suspects, Labaran Abdullahi, 25, and Sani Umar, 35 – residents of Tudun Rubudi Kurnan Asabe Quarters Kano – are facing two counts of unnatural offence and public nuisance.

During court session, the prosecutor, Mr. Anthony Edward, told the Chief Magistrate, Ibrahim Khaleel that one Sagir Muhammad and two members of Vigilante Group attached to Bachirawa Quarters reported the case to Bachirawa Police Division Kano, on February 10.

According to the prosecutor, on that day, at about 11p.m., the two men were caught having anal intercourse with the 10-year-old boy of the same address.

The suspects were then apprehended and the victim was rushed to Waziri Shehu Gidado Hospital Kano for treatment. The prosecutor added that the offence contravened sections 284 and 183 of the penal code. The two suspects however pleaded not guilty to the charges.

In his judgement, the Chief Magistrate held that the two men be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to November 29, for hearing.
