Two die, nine injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway auto crash [Photos]
Two persons have been confirmed dead while nine persons sustained injuries during an accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The fatal accident which occurred opposite new Makun in Mowe/Ibafo in the Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun state involved a Toyota Hiace commercial bus with registration number, KSF 272 YN .
The Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps [TRACE], Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the accident on Friday.
Akinbiyi said the accident happened on Friday at 3:55 pm due to tyre burst and loss of control according to an eyewitness.
He said 14 persons were involved out of whom two died and nine sustained injuries.
According to Akinbiyi, it was learnt that the commercial bus was coming from Ilorin inbound Lagos when it experienced a tyre burst due to spending and lost control in the process and thereafter somersaulted.
He said,
“Among the injured victims was the driver of the vehicle.
“The injured persons were taken to Idera hospital by TRACE, while the presumed dead and other injured were taken to OOUTH by FRSC.
“Accidented vehicle has been removed by police from Sagamu.
” TRACE Corps commiserates with the family of the deceased victims, it implores motorists to avoid speeding and the use of expired and worn out tyres for the safety of all road users.”
