UEFA names Euro 2016 player, team of the tournament

France forward Antoine Griezmann has been named UEFA EURO 2016 Player of the Tournament by UEFA’s technical observers.

The French goal poacher won the accolade after finishing with six goals and two assists.
Griezmann scored both goals in France’ 2-0 semi-final win over Germany, having also struck twice to spark Les Bleus’ 2-1 comeback victory against the Republic of Ireland in the round of 16.
A statement by UEFA said: “The technical observers made their decision by pinpointing the player who shone brightest individually and as part of his team, and whose overall contribution had a major impact on his side’s performances.”
UEFA has also named its the tournament with some notable exclusions like Gareth Bale and Hugo Lloris. One surprising inclusion is that of Joe Allen of Liverpool who mounts a three-man midfield alongside Toni Kroos and Aaron Ramsey.
In goal is Portugal’s Rui Patricio and his defense consists of Germany pair Jerome Boateng and Joshua Kimmich, Real Madrid’s Pepe and Dortmund’s Raphael Guerreiro.
Portugal defensive lynchpin Pepe was also included, along with fellow Portuguese goalkeeper Rui Patricio and Raphael Guerreiro.

There was no place for Gareth Bale, but Wales team-mates Aaron Ramsey and Joe Allen, both midfielders, were named in the team of the tournament.

The attack predictably consists of player of the tournament Griezmann, Dimitry Payet and winning captain Cristiano Ronaldo.
