UK gang violence: Nigerian couple reportedly lose three sons
We pray that affliction does not rise and if it does, it should not be more than once. Well for this Nigerian family based in the United Kingdom, it has risen a third time as they have reportedly lost three sons to gang violence in the U.K.
38-year-old David Bello-Monerville, who was stabbed to death on Tuesday after two groups attacked each other around his home in Barnet, was identified as the third son from one family, the Burke-Monerville family, to be murdered in gang violence.
It was gathered that 19-year-old Joseph Burke-Monerville was shot in the head in a drive-by shooting. He later died in the hospital.
Joseph and his twin brother Jonathan had only been back in Britain for six months after being sent to Nigeria to study by their parents who feared the rising violence levels in London.
Tragedy hits again as another brother, Trevor Monerville, 26, died after being stabbed by five men in Hackney.
The Nigerian couple are said to be quite devastated.
After the news broke, the deceased’s devastated mother, Linda Burke-Monerville rushed to the scene screaming: ‘Not another son!’,
Neighbors claim that she and David’s dad, John, were ‘beyond devastated’ at the murder of the third of their seven children.
David, who has two sons aged seven and nine, is the fifth person to be murdered in London in the space of six days.
The Met Police are now appealing for any information that could lead to his killer being identified.
