My mother was raped inside the barracks by a colleague – Soldier

Covid-19 lockdown: Army nabs soldiers that harassed Delta residents -Official

A former Nigerian soldier has shared the story of how his mother was raped by a neighbour in the barracks where he lived.

Sharing his story via his Twitter handle @FestusNG, the former soldier said when he was still serving in 146 Batallion, his mum had come to pay him a visit in the barracks. He left for work and a neighbour, a fellow soldier, found his way into his house, stabbed his mum, and raped her.

Rape is a disgusting thing. When I was a soldier serving in 146 battalion. My mum visited me, brought foodstuffs, cooked all sorts of food and served my neighbours (soldiers). At 6pm, I left for my duty. My neighbour broke into the ceiling and gained entry into my apartment.

“Stabbed my mum twice at the back and raped her. My mum was a mess and almost took her own life. I didn’t forgive myself until I left the army. When you plan of raping anyone, you plan to destroy them. Say No to Rape.” he tweeted.

At 22, I was molested by ‘one chance’ commercial bus operators, lady narrates

My husband slapped and raped me for denying him s*#, was he right?

As Nigerians continue to speak against rape and sexual violence on women, a Twitter user @anitaihekweme, has shared the story of how she got into a wrong bus filled with ”one chance hoodlums” who took turns in inserting their fingers inside her vagina and how the incident affected her mentally.

According to her, in five minutes a man can damaged a woman for a lifetime.

She wrote,

A little over two years ago, on my way to TS, I got into a one chance bus. I was 22. These men took turns each inserting a finger into my vagina. In my head, all I could think of was take my phones and just let me be. For days, I couldn’t sleep well. I had trouble sleeping.

@fabuloustayo would call me and just console me. I cried myself to sleep several nights after that. The next day, I’d go back to TS acting like nothing happened but a lot was going on in my head and mind.

A year after that, I got into a keke going to work. I sat behind with another guy and the driver. Along the way, another man sat beside me making me the middle person, I started hyperventilating, the men couldn’t understand why.

I knew why, after that incident, I had found it so difficult to be the only female in a room or in a space. I avoided it at all cost. Some days, I have flashback and I still shudder from the thoughts.

I was 22, I was molested and helpless.

I hope we teach the sons we breed that a woman’s body isn’t supposed to be taken advantage off just because we’re the weaker sexes.

Being a female is so hard yet men wonder why we try to walk in groups. You walk alone, you get cat called or have one unfortunate male make snide remarks about you.

You pay no attention to them and the next thing you hear is ‘ASHAWO’

I hope Uwa and Tina get justices for the way the society has let them down. I hope their killers are brought to book.

It’s just 5 minutes for the men but a lifetime trying to repair a damaged woman.
