US Election: Republican candidate Donald Trump in comfortable lead over Hillary Clinton

Latest projected results in the ongoing US election show Republican candidate Donald scoring major victories in key states as the race for president edges to a close.

According to CNN report as at Wednesday morning, Trump is projected to have garnered 247 electoral votes against Democratic rival Hillary Clinton who has garnered 215 electoral votes. A total of 270 electoral vote is needed for a nominee to win the White House.

Meanwhile, key swing state of Pennsylvania, New Hamshire, Michigan and Wisconsin remain too close to call.

As Clinton’s team anxiously waited for results of the undecided states to roll in, the Democratic candidate took to her Instagram account and wrote, “This team has so much to be proud of. Whatever happens tonight, thank you for everything.”

However, the uncertainty in the US polls sent Dow futures and Asian markets tumbling, reflecting investor concern over what a Trump presidency might mean for the economy and trade.
