Uzodinma constitutes 9-man committee on prevention of coronavirus in Imo

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has constituted a 9-member Committee on Prevention of Coronavirus disease with Prof Maurice Iwu as Chairman.

Other members include Dr Okeji Austin of Ministry of Health (Member/Secretary), Dr Kingsley Achigbu, Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Owerri (Member), Dr Uduji Uchenna of Imo Specialist Hospital, Umuguma (Member), Dr Duru Chukwuma JP of Imo State University Teaching Hospital, Orlu (Member) and Prof. Isiah Ibe of University of Benin (Member).

Other members include Miss Nkem Chimeze Ijere of Public Health (Member), Dr Chimezie Iwuala (Member) and Dr Kyrian Duruewuru, Chairman Nigeria Medical Association, Imo Chapter (Member).

Governor Uzodimma who took this initiative to forestall the spread of the disease now ravaging many parts of the world stated that Government took this step as a proactive measure even as Imo has not recorded any COVID-19 infection.

In the wake of the outbreak of the Coronavirus, Uzodinma had directed the Ministry of Health to activate all platforms, including emergency response measures with the procurement of protective equipment, enhanced border surveillance, community enlightenment and distribution of sanitizers.

The governor had always insisted that the health of the Imo people was critical to his administration’s policy thrust; hence, no stone would be left unturned in ensuring a healthy state under his watch.
