VIDEO! Police brutalise lawyer for demanding his salary from employer
Officers from Lions Building Police Command in Lagos State have reportedly brutalised and injured a lawyer, Olukunle Karimu, for allegedly demanding his salary arrears from his employer.
According to online reports, a law firm, Oluyomi Olawore LLP, had issued a post-dated cheque for June 29, 2018, to Karimu.
However, when Karimu presented the cheque at the bank on the said date, he was told that the signature on the cheque must be regularised by the issuer for payment.
The lawyer took the cheque to his senior colleague and employer, Olawore, for regularisation but was told, “to deal with it.”
When Karimu insisted that Olawore should regularise the cheque, he (Olawore) invited the police.
Olawore reportedly told the Police that he was being held hostage by Karimu in his office.
It was said that the policemen proceeded to brutalise Karimu.
A viral video shared online by another lawyer, showed two policemen — one holding a pistol — slapping Karimu across the face several times. He could be heard in the video insisting he was not holding the senior colleague hostage.
Several attempts to get Olawore’s side of the story proved abortive as calls to his mobile phone rang out.
He has not also replied to text messages as of the time of filing this report.
