Virgil van Dijk set to beat Raheem Sterling to PFA Players’ Player of the Year crown
Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk beats Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling to be crowned PFA Players’ Player of the Year.
While no official announcement is due until Thursday, the Dutchman is expected to beat Raheem Sterling to the award.
Van Dijk was named last weekend as part of a six-man shortlist that also featured Sterling, Sadio Mane, Eden Hazard, Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling.
The Dutch defender, who is now widely regarded as one of the best in the world in his position, has dominated the headlines this season.
The official announcement is due on Thursday but the Dutch centre-back has won the biggest backing from his peers after an incredible season at Anfield.
It means the award will stay with Liverpool after Mo Salah triumphed last year.
