No fewer than 18 people reportedly died on Wednesday after a commercial bus had a head-on collision with a trailer in Ekiti State.

According to reports, the incident happened on the Igede-Awo Ekiti Road in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government of the state.

The accident involved a Toyota Hiace bus said to have been conveying passengers from Lagos to Abuja.

The bodies of the passengers were squeezed in the crushed bus, with witnesses claiming that there was no survivor in the accident.

The cause of the accident is yet to be known.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps have evacuated the remains of the victims.
