Nollywood Netflix

Nigerian actor, Bobby Obodo, has expressed his displeasure over Nollywood movies uploaded on movie streaming platform Netflix.

According to Obodo, most of the movies are becoming “painful” to watch.

Bobby gave the damning verdict in a series of tweets via his Twitter handle.

The actor said he is sad by the lazy and predictable story lines being churned out by movie directors and producers who are only concerned about putting their works on the platform without minding the quality.

He tweeted:

“Most of the movies we’re putting out on #Netflix are becoming painful to see. Such great opportunity to literally reach most parts of the world to showcase #Nollywood via the platform, & we fucking up. Errbody wants their “shit” on Netflix- I suspect for $$$ & bragging rights.

I hope creative producers/directors/writers start putting out good movies on there to save us the shame & ridicule that cld befall #Nollywood, before it’s too late. Lazy/predictable storylines, horrible extras, disastrous costumes, etc. Come on, mehn. This opporutnity is golden!

Bobby added:

“Most of our movies are dramas. We don’t need $1M to shoot a drama movie with a sweet story line, cast decent actors for every role- esp. roles of extras (<IMPORTANT), provide costumes (MUST BE IRONED) that suits ALL xters in the movie- FOR ALL ACTORS

“We have good producers/directors/writers now. They gotta out-produce most of the current crop of producers churning out mediocre movies, & save us from a global embarrassment. But, then again, there’s funding issues for most of them. Just tiring #NollywoodGottaDoBetter

“I wldn’t give a fuck. ‘Cos if we miss out on effectively utilizing our viewing power on major movie streaming platforms, we may lose the respect we have as the 2nd (or 3rd?) largest movie industry in the world &, our negotiating power out the door with it.
