WATERLOO! Police arrest two for kidnapping 70-year-old woman in Katsina
The Police in Katsina State have rescued a 70-year-old woman, Hauwa Usman, from kidnappers.
The police also arrested the kidnappers – Abubakar Yusuf, 40 alias ‘Kango’ and Abubakar Mansur, 40 of Unguwar Gwanda – who are helping operatives with their investigation.
According to the spokesman for Katsina Police Command, Gambo Isah, the two suspects hailed Safana Local Government Area of the state, same place their victim hails from.
Isa added the old woman was able to identify the suspects after their arrest, adding that the duo had confessed to committing the crime.
Giving the detailed circumstances surrounding the rescue of the septuagenarian and the arrest of the two suspects, the police spokesperson said,
“On January 9, 2019 at about 14:00hrs, based on a tip-off, the command succeeded in arresting the duo of one Abubakar Yusuf, alias “Kango”, male, aged 40 of Safana and Abubakar Mansur, male, aged 40 of Unguwar Gwanda, Safana LGA of Katsina who kidnapped one Hauwa Usman, female, aged 70 of Old Garin Waziri, Safana LGA of Katsina State.
“The victim has identified the hoodlums as those that kidnapped her. Also, the suspects confessed to the commission of committing the offence. Investigation is ongoing.”
