2018 World-Cup
WE MAY PULL OFF A SURPRISE! Croatia, Argentina are favourites to qualify from the Russia 2018 World Cup Group D, says Troost-Ekong
Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has tipped Argentina and Croatia to qualify from the Russia 2018 World Cup Group D.
Nigeria and Iceland are also in the group.
The Turkey-based defender told The Telegraph on Thursday, “Croatia and Argentina are probably the favourites.”
He said with such players as Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi and Obi Mikel, Nigeria could pull off a surprise at the tournament.
The 24-year-old said his choice to represent Nigeria along with Moses and Iwobi, who could have played for England, would motivate more players with dual nationalities to consider playing for the three-time African champions.
He said,
“You have to go where you are loved, where you are appreciated. It is more appealing for younger players.
It is opening doors for foreign-born Nigerians, and I think there are going to be more to follow. Nigeria is a giant of African football.”
