We’re not aware of Dogara’s defection – PDP
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State has stated former House of Representatives Speaker, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, is yet to inform the party of his defection.
Chairman of the party, Alhaji Hamza Akuyam, while reacting to reports of Dogara’s defection, told The Nation on phone the PDP was awaiting formal notification to that effect from the ex-Speaker.
“We have not received any letter of him leaving our party and when you see him with the President, it’s normal because he was a former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
“Maybe there are some issues he want to call his attention to but when he makes his defection official to us, we shall comment on that. For now we are waiting to receive a letter from him.”
Recall that WzupNigeria had reported earlier that Dogara, who defected to the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) shortly before the 2019 general elections, was led to meet President Muhmmadu Buhari at the State House on Friday by chairman of the party’s Caretaker/National Planning Committee Governor Mai Mala Buni who confirmed the Bauchi lawmaker had rejoined the APC.
All efforts to ascertain the reason behind Dogara’s defection proved abortive as calls and messages put across to his Special Adviser on Media, Turaki Hassan were not responded to as at press time.
Dogara had in 2018 left the APC for the PDP after a political rift with the former governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abubakar.
The former speaker had only recently headed a screening panel of the PDP primary for the Ondo State governorship election.
