Eight years after death, Whitney Houston begins tour across Europe…as hologram
Legendary american singer Whitney Houston is back on the concert stage again.
Eight years after her death, a holographic Houston is embarking on a European tour that started in Sheffield, England on Tuesday February 25 and will continue across the UK until the end of March. The hologram will then travel across Europe through early April, with U.S. dates expected to follow.
The Girls Just Wanna Have Fun singer died in 2012 aged 48 – but that doesn’t mean fans can’t see her perform.
A hologram of the legendary pop star has kicked off on tour, and the first show started in Sheffield last night.
According to Mirror UK, an Evening with Whitney includes a digital recreation of the singer – which was created by a body double, a CGI synthesizer and hundreds of hours of performance footage.
Whitney’s hologram will be projected on to the stage, alongside two professional dancers and a live band.
The tour will feature the late star’s best songs, including I Will Always Love You.
“Now is just the right time,” said Pat Houston, the singer’s sister-in-law, former manager and the executor of her estate, which is producing the show in collaboration with BASE Hologram. “In the spirit of Whitney, I know we’re doing all the right things right now.”
