Widow drags wives of late husband to court, wants her share of inheritance sold
A 52-year-old widow, Hauwa Ibrahim, of Kabala Coustain, Kaduna, on Wednesday dragged two wives of her late husband to a Sharia Court l, sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna State, over her late husband’s inheritance.
Ibrahim told the court that their late husband died two years ago and left 13 children, plots of land and a house located in Kabala Coustain, Kaduna.
“Our late husband married me as a third wife. I did not bear any child for him,’’ Ibrahim said.
She added that the first wife, Mai-Kyau and the second wife, Zainab, insisted that she stays in the room allocated to her as her share of the inheritance.
“I don’t want any room or plot of land. I can’t continue to stay with them in the same house, they should give me money to walk away,’’ Ibrahim said.
The two defendants, Mai-kyau and Zainab, accepted the complaints against them by their co-widow.
They added that they do not have money to buy and acquire the defendant’s share of room and plot of land in the resident.
The judge, Dahiru Lawal, adjourned the case until May 15.
He held that the court would visit the residence to see the possibilities of selling the house.
