With Buhari in charge, it is like Nigerians have entered a one-chance bus, says Buba Galadima

Published

Buba Galadima

The spokesman for the presidential campaign council of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP], Alhaji Buba Galadima, has given a damning verdict on the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, describing it as a ‘One Chance Bus’.

WuzupNigeria reports that “one chance” is a local slang in Lagos which is used to describe robbers who use public buses to rob innocent and unsuspecting passengers.

Galadima said in a The Sun report where he declared that Nigerians should not be surprised to see the President contesting in the 2023 presidential election. He said that some forces will draft President Buhari into the 2023 presidential race.

“I have never seen such a terrible situation like what we are witnessing in Nigeria today under the APC-led government of President Muhammadu Buhari. Not even during the colonial era and the military period have Nigerians passed through these hard times,” he said.

“With Buhari in charge, it is like Nigerians have entered a one-chance bus. What is even surprising is that despite all the hardship, and suffering being inflicted on Nigerians, Buhari is not bothered. He doesn’t feel moved by the cries of hardship and sufferings, which his government has brought upon Nigerians.

“Now Buhari has travelled outside the country again. He has travelled to Saudi Arabia, and from there, he will go to the United Kingdom. Does that show the trait of a good leader? Buhari keeps on travelling across the globe while Nigerians are wallowing in poverty.

“He is not moved by all the hardship, and not only that, he feels so confident that his mandate is secured. If not, he would not have travelled to Saudi Arabia on the eve of the hearing of petition, and appeal against his election by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of PDP.

“Buhari has already pocketed the judiciary, and he feels that nothing will happen, and that he will be victorious at the court. His government has destroyed the judiciary and this is very troubling for democracy, and our nation

“A lot of politicians will be disappointed. Only God knows what will happen between now and 2023. Buhari may even be drafted to join the 2023 fray by some of his aides and associates.

“Buhari may be drafted by those enjoying under his government. Buhari has always been drafted to contest elections, and I won’t be surprised if his supporters draft him into the 2023 race.

“But clearly, what these politicians jostling and talking about 2023 don’t know is that they are over-exposing themselves. They are exposing their weaknesses, and their opponents or political foes may use it against them.

“Nobody knows how 2023 will go. It is only God that knows. Anything can happen between now, and 2023.”

I assured Jonathan I’d never betray him and I kept my words – Dasuki

Published

Former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, has denied campaigning for the President, Major General, Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) while serving as ex-president Goodluck Jonathan’s NSA.

He also debunked reports that he campaigned for the All Progressives Congress or its then-presidential candidate, Buhari, “in whatever shape or form before, during or after the 2015 presidential elections.”

The former NSA said this in a statement on Sunday titled, ‘I never campaigned for APC or Buhari as NSA to President Jonathan.’

He stated,

“The truth is that I was involved in an attempt at forging an alliance between the Action Congress of Nigeria, All Nigeria Peoples Party, Congress for Progressive Change, among others, prior to 2011 elections which was not successful.

“My involvement in that political process ended after the elections of 2011.”

Dasuki continued:

“At the point of accepting the appointment to serve as National Security Adviser in 2012, I made clear to President Jonathan that I had relationships with General Muhammadu Buhari of CPC, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu of ACN and Chief Ogbonnaya Onu of ANPP, among other opposition elements and that my appointment would not cause me to sever the relationship.

“I, however, assured him that I would never betray him. As a man of honour, I kept to my words.”

As NSA between 2012 and 2015, Dasuki insisted that he did not work at cross-purposes with Jonathan “as being recklessly insinuated by mischief makers on their blogs and social media.”

Nigeria’s poverty is a result of corruption in Precidency – PDP

Published

Five councilors in Zamfara

The Peoples Democratic Party has blamed poverty and growing insecurity in Nigeria on the alleged unbridled looting and extortion by a cabal around the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), and the ruling All Progressives Congress.

This party’s position is contained in a statement titled, ‘Corruption in Buhari Presidency, APC responsible for poverty in Nigeria – PDP…Says Treasury Looting is APC’s Manifesto’, signed by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in Abuja, on Sunday.

According to the statement, the PDP declared that the alleged “unbridled treasury looting and extortion by the cabal in the Buhari Presidency and the All Progressives Congress are directly responsible for the excruciating poverty and escalated insecurity being suffered by Nigerians in the last five years.”

The party noted that the “grandstanding by the Buhari regime” in response to revelations of abuses and sleaze emanating from the investigation of the suspended acting Chairman of the APC-controlled Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibrahim Magu, exposed a desperate attempt by a cabal to delink certain of its officials from indictment in the saga.

Ologbondiyan said, “The recent revelations of widespread treasury looting, including the alleged allocation of billions of stolen money to certain top government officials, have also exposed the hypocrisy of the APC and how its leaders are mercilessly plundering our economy while abandoning our citizens to a life of squalour.

“The picture is becoming clearer on how the APC leaders, in the last five years, siphoned and pocketed over N14tn, from various government agencies, meant for the development of the nation and the welfare of Nigerians.

“From unfolding events, Nigerians are no longer in doubt that treasury looting is the official manifesto of the APC, which has now been exposed as a deceitful party that came to power by pretence and pointing of accusing fingers at others while its real intention had always been to sweep the treasuries for their selfish gains.”

The statement further read:

“This explains why the APC administration has failed to expose those involved in the wholesale stealing of N9.6tn ($25bn) oil money as detailed in the leaked NNPC memo just as no steps have been taken by the APC government to investigate and recover the money.

“It equally explains why the APC administration had also failed to expose those behind the reported stealing of N1.1tn worth of crude oil, using 18 unregistered vessels linked to some of its leaders and why the money was never recovered.”

Attempts to get a response from the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Yekini Nabena, were futile, as calls to his mobile phone were neither picked nor returned.

Also, a response to a text message sent to him was still being awaited as at the time of filing this report.

However, the Chairman of the Buhari Media Organisation, Niyi Akinsuji, said:

“Unlike the PDP, this administration is open and transparent.

“We don’t cover up; whenever there are allegations against anyone, it is investigated and sanctions applied. The PDP should hide its head in shame for mismanaging Nigeria for 16 years.”

Fayemi celebrates Wole Soyinka at 86

Wole Soyinka

Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, has celebrated Nobel Prize winner, Professor Wole Soyinka who turned 86years of age today, July 13, 2020.

The governor took to his social media accounts to pen a lengthy epistle for the Nigerian icon.

According to Fayemi, with Soyinka’s “ageless physique, it is almost difficult to acknowledge that our own Oluwole Akinwande Soyinka, affectionately called KONGI by his numerous admirers, is 86!

“Even though 86 might not be a remarkable milestone, it was in 1986 that the Nobel Prize came, hence the reason for this remarkable reckoning and why it’s worthy of celebration.

“For me, WS is not the unfathomable mystery that many perceive from a distance and he is not the mythological pantheon that exists in the realm of the gods in the imagination of many. He is a mentor, a role model and a thought-leader with whom I have had the rare privilege of sharing a great moment of significant historic importance in my life,” the statement read partly.

He also acknowledged that Soyinka’s “contribution to the political development of Nigeria is undeniable and inspiring.”
