Woman throws party with friends to celebrate marriage split
A 36- year-old divorcee, Nicole Niesner, has decided to turn a negative situation into positive by hosting a divorce party with close friends in their wedding dresses.
Following the end of a 13-year-old marriage, Niesner said she just wanted to make herself happy and throw a divorce party after reading about similar celebrations online.
According to her, she discussed with her best friend who took control of the party arrangements and organised other friends to come in their wedding dresses. This resulted in the ladies drinking wine and having a nice time.
The 36-year-old also said that divorce is a devastating process, however, the party wasn’t celebrating the divorce necessarily, it was about friendship and starting a new chapter.
Nicole said, “When I opened the door all of my friends had brought their wedding dresses, it was so fun.
“I had no idea that this was the plan so I went into my storage room and dug my dress out.
“We all helped each other get dressed, danced around, took some pictures and reminisced about our weddings, children, families and friends.
“Divorce is devastating, no matter what the reason is for it – it’s a very painful process.
“The party wasn’t celebrating the divorce necessarily, it was about friendship and supporting me starting my new chapter.
“I had come across divorce parties on the internet and thought, hey, why not celebrate!
“I mentioned it to my friend and she took control and planned the party with some of my closest friends.
“These women came together to let me know that I am loved and supported by many.”
Despite struggling with the divorce at first, Nicole claims that the party definitely helped her to cope with her life change, mirror.co.uk reports.
She added: “I felt so happy, I felt loved. There is nothing more uplifting than being surrounded by close friends who support you no matter what.
“We get through the good and bad together, and after that party, I knew I’d be okay.
“Now that I’m single, I’m focusing on living my best life – I work out regularly, I have taken up painting, I’m working on my mental health and focusing on my children.
“I would recommend a positive divorce party to everyone – there is nothing more satisfying than turning a negative into a positive.”
