Woman ties up her seven-year-old daughter, locks her in the room for not sweeping [Video]
A video has emerged on the internet of a mother, one Charity Owor, who tied up the legs and hands of her seven-year-old daughter, Favour, for allegedly not sweeping the house.
It was gathered that the incident happened in their residence at Ngene Amawbia, Awka South local government area of Anambra state on Wednesday.
Sources said Owor, who is a native of Efion, in Ishienu local government area of Ebonyi State, is a single mother with four children, while Favour is her second child.
Some passersby who heard the girl crying for help from the room her mother tied her made their way into the house and rescued the girl before the arrival of the mother who left the house after tying and locking her up in the room.
A social media user Somto Okafor who shared a series of videos of the incident on Facebook wrote:
“She was tied inside the house and before I had someone crying and I had to enter the compound and notice that a child was tied with a rope inside the house.”
In the video, the girl’s hands were seen tied to her back with a long rope which was also used to tie her two legs.
It was gathered that the mother has been arrested by local vigilante groups.

Meanwhile, a social media user has revealed that the Anambra State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Ndidi Mezue, has intervened in the matter.
He wrote on Facebook:
“The girl and her younger siblings are already being taking care of by the ministry and the woman is currently undergoing counselling under the supervision of the ministry’s child department.”
