Published

A Nigerian feminist, Nkechi Bianze, has said that she abandoned Christianity because the Bible ranked men above women and propagates inequality of the genders.

Bianze said that she will never accept the school of thought that says that she is inferior to any man.

Bianze whose Facebook profile says she is an entrepreneur and a social crusader further said that women did not come out from men’s rib adding that it’s a folktale.

Bianze wrote;

“The MAIN reason I left Christianity is because I came to understand that the Bible ranked men above women… it propagates inequality of the genders. This was so in contrast with my feminist ideology. An ideology I hold so dear.

There’s absolutely no way on earth that I would belong to an ideology that tells me that I’m inferior to any man; or one that propagates gender inequality in any way, shape or form, or one that says that any man is my head just because he owns a penis. No f*cking way!!!

No one owes me any proof or explanation, I know.

But if anyone can prove to me (using the Bible) that the Bible/Christianity is not against equality of the genders, I will become a Christian again TODAY!

“Over the past 10-years, I’ve attended only one Nigerian wedding.

“If you invite me to your wedding and the MC starts talking about submission or starts giving the usual one-sided advice to the to woman, one of two things will happen:

I will either… 1. Stand up and ask him to shut the fuck up.(So, if you are going to get one of the usual chauvinistic mumu MCs, do not invite me to your wedding, or I will spoil your day. Period!).
OR

2. Walk out of the hall/venue.

“My mum keeps telling me “Nkechi, you never get your ass off to attend people’s wedding ceremonies. You turn down all offers for ashebi. Who will attend your wedding, and who will do ashebi for you?”.

“I always respond “Mummy, I don’t want more than 20-50 people in my wedding, and no ashebi. I don’t want the occasion to last more than 2-hours. So, the less people that come to my wedding, the better for me.

“My mum would always respond “Ehn, I want big party o. We will invite all the highs and mighties. Even my church members and I and your Dad’s colleagues are more than 1000 already. You are joking with that your 20-50 people.”.

“I would respond “Then since you are the one who wants big party, you are the one who should worry about who and who will come. You are also the one who will plan it, and fund it. Because I haven’t got millions to feed your guests that I don’t know and might never see me again. You invite the guests, you become responsible for the guests.

“I do NOT want to have Church wedding. If I have a church wedding in the future, just know that my husband, my husband’s family, or my mum talked me into it, and they did the planning themselves.

“I have rules about how I want my wedding ceremony to be, but I’m flexible with some things.
My No No’s.
1. I will DEFINITELY NOT kneel down for my husband on our wedding day.
2. If he pays bride price or if my parents accept bride price, I’ll cancel the wedding and/or file for divorce. He will use the bride price as “goat price” money to buy a goat since he wants to buy an animal.
3. I will spend a chunk of my money hiring security. Anyone who mentions “submission”, “man is head” shall be thrown out of the venue.
4. Anyone who dishes out stupid advice to me or to my husband shall be walked out of the venue.

“It’s MY WEDDING. And I shall call the shots. Or there would be no wedding.

“I don’t give a fuck about traditions and church doctrines.”
