Published

Some movie enthusiasts were at the Cinemas in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), taking advantage of the workers’ day holiday to watch choice movies.

Some respondents who spoke with journalists said they wanted to take advantage of the holiday to watch new movies.

‘Avengers: Endgame’, ‘Madea: A funeral’, ‘Little’ and ‘‘Shazam’ were among new films the fun-seekers sought out in the cinemas.

Slots for Marvel’s ‘Avengers: Endgame’ were sold out in all the cinemas visited. This was closely followed by ‘Little’, produced by Marsai Martin.

Some of them said they had been waiting for the perfect holiday to watch the movies seeing as the weekend is mostly slated for outdoor activities.

Becky Ochei, an accountant said, “it’s so difficult to get a day to unwind during the week. I came to watch Avengers and I was shocked at the crowd. I thought almost half of Abuja had watched it.”

Joshua Isong, a lawyer said he had come to watch ‘Avengers’ but had to settle for ‘Little’ when he found out the slots were sold out.

He said, “I came to relax and watch Avengers with my friends but I had to settle for ‘Little’s. It feels cool to relax in the middle of the week.”

Meanwhile, Loveth Jatto said she wished the holiday was more than one day so workers could relax fully and catch up on fun.

“Can we have a three-day holiday for workers? There is so much fun to catch up on and one day is not enough. I hope I can watch as many films today,” she said.

A cinema attendant, Omotola Akintunde said that the cinema was not overwhelmed as it had made adequate provisions to cater for the influx of customers on Workers Day.
