World Bible Church GO, Prophet Kumoluyi, sues 21-year-old man for defamation
The police on Tuesday arraigned a 21-year-man, Seunfunmi Oluwabiyi, in an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly defaming the General Overseer of World Bible Church, Ajelogo, Prophet Juluis Kumoluyi.
Oluwabiyi, whose address was not provided, is charged with breach of peace to which he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp Lucky Ihiehie, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in January at the World Bible Church, Ajelogo, Mile 12, Lagos.
Ihiehie alleged that the defendant was spreading rumours to people in the church that Kumoluyi was sleeping with a female member of the church.
He said the defendant conducted himself in a manner that was likely to breach the peace.
Ihiehie said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 168 (d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs Bukola Mogaji, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N20, 000 with one surety in like sum.
Mogaji adjourned the case until May 5.
