XENOPHOBIA ATTACK! Lawmaker begs international community to stop South Africa from killing Nigerians
Mr Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a member of Osun House of Assembly, has called on the international community to prevail on South African Government to stop xenophobia killing of Nigerians in that country.
Oyintiloye, who spoke with NAN, on Wednesday in Osogbo, said the recent killing of a Nigerian in xenophobia attack in South Africa was barbaric, inhuman and unacceptable to Nigerians.
The Nigerian Community in South Africa, on Monday, announced that one Clement Nwaogu was burnt alive by a mob in the latest xenophobia attack in that country.
The Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Union in South Africa, Mr Habib Miller, who confirmed the killing from Pretoria, said the victim, a native of Njikoka in Anambra, was attacked and killed by a mob in Rustenburg, North West Province.
Oyintiloye, who is the House Committee Chairman on Information and Strategy, said that the extra-judicial killing of Nigerians in South Africa was becoming unbearable.
The lawmaker urged the Federal Government to do everything within its power to ensure that South African Government brought the perpetrators of the evil act to justice.
Oyintiloye (APC-Obokun) said since South Africans living in Nigeria were protected by the Federal Government, South Africa Government should reciprocate the same gesture by ensuring the safety of Nigerians in that country.
He said the continuous killing of Nigerians, who travelled to South Africa for a greener pasture, was disheartening and uncalled for.
He, however, urged Nigerians in South Africans to continue to be law abiding and stay away from crime, adding that the perpetrators of the act would face the wrath of the law.
