Middlesbrough fans have described Mikel Obi as the Zidane of African football and composed an anthem for him after his spectacular performance in Middlesbrough’s 1-0 away win over Blackburn Rovers in the English Championship on Sunday.

Mikel’s performance in the game was rated 6.8, after winning three duels, won four long balls and had one shot blocked according to match statistics.

As recorded by football statistics website, whoscored.com, made one tackle, struck one shot and had a pass success rate of ninety per cent.

In all, Mikel made 63 touches, he had 52 passes attempted and 47 passes completed.

His terrific performance also led his club to describe him as a “Rolls-Royce of a Midfielder on its official Twitter handle.

The Super Eagles captain, recently moved from China to England, which many perceived may be a wrong move.
