Zambia legalises marijuana: President warns against abuse
Zambian President Edgar Lungu on Tuesday warned that the government would not allow abuse following the cabinet’s approval for the cultivation, processing, and export of cannabis for economic and medicinal purposes.
The Zambian leader said that the government would not allow the smoking of marijuana as it “is still a crime in the country”.
“The government has not legalised marijuana for smoking but only for commercial and medicinal purposes”, the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation, quoted Lungu as saying.
The Zambian leader said that he would engage the Ministry of Health and various stakeholders to sensitise people to why the government decided to legalise the cultivation and production of marijuana for medicinal and export purposes.
