Zamfara governor threatens school principals with dismissal [See their crimes]
Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has directed that all school principals and feeding officers must give standard food to students or face dismissal.
WuzupNigeria reports that it was recently discovered that pupils in public secondary schools are being served unhygienic and unpalatable food.
The governor also directed that the principals and the feeding officers must eat the same food with the students
Matawalle gave the directive on Wednesday when he paid an unscheduled visit to Government Science Secondary School and Government Girls Arabic Secondary School all in Gusau, the state capital and met students eating unpalatable food.
Matawalle who was not happy with the quality of food he met in the two schools directed that “Henceforth, the principals and the feeding officers throughout the state must eat the same food they cook for their students or be dismissed from their duties”.
The Governor expressed disgust over the type of food the principals used to provide to their students, despite the huge amount of money spent by the government on the programme.
He warned that his administration would not allow such a negative attitude to continue.
He maintained that he decided to make it mandatory for the principals and the feeding officers to eat together with the students so that, the quality of food could be improved.
“You must join the students to eat the unpalatable and unhygienic food you provide to the poor students and I will keep you on watch so that those who violate the order would be dismissed”.
Matawalle maintained that the state government has been providing all necessary food items for the students feeding, as such, the principals and feeding officers must ensure that they gave good food to students.
He stated that the era of giving substandard food to students was over, concluding that, adequate supervision and inspection would be carried out on daily basis to make sure that that all students in the state were given good food.
