Driver, two others die as bribe-seeking FRSC officers chase motorist on Lagos-Ibadan expressway [Video]
A disturbing video of a fatal car crash involving a car driver allegedly chased to death by operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Lagos-Ibadan expressway is presently making the rounds on social media.
According to eyewitnesses, three people – a road user, the driver of the Mercedes Benz car and an FRSC officer were killed in the fatal crash.
Some Nigerians, who shared videos of the incident on social media, alleged that the officers gave the driver a hot chase after he refused to give them bribe.
In the viral videos, an angry mob was seen beating up one of the FRSC officers who ran out of luck after his colleagues fled the scene of the accident.
The car and the patrol van of the FRSC was badly damaged.
An Instagram user @soa_pappy who shared a video of the incident on his page wrote:
“This accident just happened at Sat Gurumaraji in Ibadan. Caused by @frsc commission officials because of bribe. 3 dead (including frsc officer) and other officers took to their heels except this guy in this video caught up.”
Another Twitter user, @I_amdaslugger wrote:
“An accident just happened at ibadan express way opp Luna tin milk factory when some road safety officers in their vehicle were chasing a benz vehicle with high speed on the highway which caused the death of the driver and a car crash.”
