IN THE JOSTLE FOR POWER, PEOPLE CAN DO ANYTHING! Presidency says Trump’s alleged ‘lifeless’ statement is unsubstantiated
The presidency has said that the alleged “lifeless” statement credited to US president, Donald Trump, is unsubstantiated and unverified.
Speaking on Channels TV’s Sunrise Daily on Tuesday, the special adviser on media and publicity to Buhari, Femi Adesina, said in the jostle for power, people can do anything.
Adesina also said that the statement which had courted controversy on the internet may not be true after all.
“It is unsubstantiated, it is unverified. Anybody could have planted.
“In the jostle for power, people can do anything,” Adesina said.
Recall that Wuzup Naija had reported that Trump, called President Muhammadu Buhari, lifeless after their April meeting, claimed global business publication, Financial Times.
Buhari and Trump met at the White House on April 30. Both leaders discussed issues bordering on fighting terrorism and economic growth.

Meanwhile, the People’s Democratic Party said the alleged “lifeless” statement is an indication of how the Buhari government has failed Nigeria.
“This embarrassment is a backlash a nation gets when incompetent leaders, out of inferiority complex and misgovernance, resort to jumping around the world, desperately shopping for endorsements from world leaders,” PDP’s spokesman Kola Ologbodiyan said in a statement.
However, many Nigerians had taken to their social media to argue about the propriety of the alleged statement made by the outspoken Trump.
Some had opined that the statement was offensive and called out Trump while some anti-Buhari praised Trump who had one said African countries are “Shit hole.”
Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president, Goodluck Jonathan, wrote on Twitter,
“Nigerians saying we should condemn @RealDonaldTrump for allegedly calling President @MBuhari a ‘completely lifeless person’ are missing the point.
“In February 2016, Buhari told the @Telegraph that Nigerians are criminals. When you don’t respect your people others won’t respect you!”
According to the Guardian, The Financial Times report is a contrast to what Trump said of Buhari at a joint press briefing held after their bilateral talks.

Trump said he had an implicit belief in the Nigerian president to rein in the “massive corruption” in the country and commended his efforts at doing that.
“Nigeria has a reputation for very massive corruption. I also know that the President has been able to cut that down very substantially.
“We talked about that, he is working on it and they have made a lot of progress and I think they will continue to make a lot of progress.” Trump said.
