Tribunal: Why I cannot congratulate Buhari – Fayose
The immediate past Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose has said he cannot congratulate President Muhammadu Buhari over his victory at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal on Wednesday.
WuzupNigeria reports that the tribunal sitting in Abuja, on Wednesday, dismissed the petition of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Atiku Abubakar challenging the declaration of Buhari as the winner of the February 23 Presidential election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Fayose, who took to his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday evening to react to Buhari’s victory, said he cannot congratulate the President because his party and its candidate have declared their intent to appeal the tribunal ruling at the Supreme Court.

He also dissociated himself from any congratulatory message issued in his name.
The former governor tweeted:
Nigerians should disregard any congratulatory message issued in my name on the outcome of the Presidential Election Judgment. My party has indicated its intention to appeal the judgment, and as a party man and believer in the PDP/ATIKU 2019 project, I can’t author such statement.
